Barron Co. Sheriff seeks volunteers to search for evidence in case of missing teen Thursday

Barron County (WQOW) –  The search for evidence in the case of missing teenager Jayme Closs and her deceased parents James and Denise Closs is underway.

Wisconsin DNR Warden Russell Fell is leading the search. He said 14 teams of seven volunteers are searching along Highway 8 from just west of the Closs’ home at 1268 Highway 8 to the city limits of Turtle Lake which is about 14 miles west of the home. They are not searching the woods, rather the ditches on the north and south side of Highway 8.

Fell said searchers should look for anything of interest.

Barron County (WQOW) – Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald is looking for 100 volunteers to help search for evidence in the case of missing teen Jayme Closs on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Barron County Sheriff’s Department Facebook page, 100 volunteers are needed and should report to the intersection of Highway 8 and 16th Street in the city of Barron at 2 p.m.

Volunteers need to present a valid form of photo identification and be able to walk on uneven terrain. Proper footwear (hard soled shoes) and clothing are required. Volunteers are asked to provide their own water.

Only 100 volunteers are being accepted. Others will be turned away.
