Barron County (WQOW) – Authorities have officially ruled the deaths of James and Denise Closs as homicides.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said the two were shot to death and he believes their daughter Jayme was home at the time. Jayme has been missing since the shooting. He said he does not know if the shooting was random or targeted, but there have not been any other threats in the city.

When asked how long it took deputies to arrive at the house on Highway 8 where the shooting happened, Fitzgerald said it took four minutes from the end of the 911 call.

The sheriff said they have received more than 400 tips and have added extra phone lines because they have received so many calls. Also, a new phone number was provided to leave tips. That number is 1-855-744-3879.

Fitzgerald is asking everyone to check their properties – and called on hunters who might be walking in the woods to report anything different they see.
