Man dead in Polk County fishing incident

Polk County (WQOW) – A man is dead after he apparently fell overboard on Deer Lake in St. Croix Falls.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, residents in the area saw a fisherman in the water and an unoccupied boat drifting nearby Saturday morning around 11:47.

The witnesses were taking their dock out of the water when they saw the man, Michael Christianson, 51, from Cottage Grove, MN. They launched their row boat and tried to rescue him.

Christianson was brought to shore where they tried CPR. He was flown to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where he was pronounced dead about two hours later.
