Eau Claire (WQOW)- Democrats, along with lawmakers and concerned citizens, gathered in Eau Claire ahead of Vice President Mike Pence’s arrival.
At the rally they expressed how they believe Governor Scott Walker isn’t in it for average families.
Democratic officials said Pence’s visit is partially due to the fact that his numbers are weakening in the eastern and western portion of the state.
Candidate for the 91st Assembly District Jodi Emerson said she believes average citizens in the state don’t feel like they have access to their legislators, and they’re frustrated.
“We have to have a lot of money in order to go to a fundraiser, to be invited, in order to have contact with the elected officials on the highest level, that’s not what this country was built on and that’s not what we stand for,” Emerson said.
Emerson said Walker doesn’t have listening sessions, and people can’t communicate with him, and when people try they get screened out by staff.
The same group at the rally, later went to protest at Pence’s visit.
