Chippewa Falls (WQOW) — The second man accused in the 2016 killing of Kenneth Patterson took the stand against Jesse Lloyd Friday.
The defense has previously argued that Matthew Labrec has changed his story multiple times. Friday, Labrec defended himself against that claim.
The courtroom was shown video of Labrec walking officers through the crime scene, recounting the timeline of events. Labrec became confused when officers told him where they found evidence, compared to how he remembered it. However, Labrec said after thinking about the events of the crime he and Lloyd are accused of, he’s remembered more.
Labrec repeated that he did not shoot Kenneth Patterson, but claimed Lloyd did. However, he did admit to pointing a gun and attempting to shoot Patterson, but the gun did not fire. He also claimed that he believes Lloyd did not intend to kill Patterson, saying it was an accident.
Testimony in Lloyd’s murder trial is expected to continue on Monday. A total of 45 witnesses are expected to testify over the course of the trial.
Labrec was given a 20-year sentence for his role in the death of Patterson in 2017.
