Eau Claire (WQOW)- It’s been over two months since employees moved out of city hall in Eau Claire, and Thursday we got a look at some of the renovations.
Engineer project manager Rodney Bonesteel said the past two months they’ve been working on moving furniture out and getting rid of stuff, and now they’re starting on removing ceiling tiles.
Bonesteel said the next part of the project will be demolition, but you can already start to see some of the historic parts of the building.
“The floor below us which will become the planning and inspection area has very ornate plaster work and really nice ceiling work that was done originally in the building that we’ll get to see again,” Bonesteel said. “There’s also marble flooring there and maple hardwood underneath the existing flooring. We’re hoping that when we take the existing flooring off we’re able to restore that.”
Bonesteel said there’s also some sky lights throughout the building that they plan to restore.
He said when working with a 100-year-old building there’s going to be some things they discover, but they’ve done a lot of investigation on the building, and he says the flooring will be a mystery.
They plan to be done with the renovations around Labor Day of 2019
