Eau Claire police arrest man with gun inside hotel using K-9

Eau Claire (WQOW) – A man is in custody, but it took Eau Claire police’s K-9 Jake to get the man behind bars.

According to a Facebook post from Eau Claire police, officers received a complaint of a a man trespassing in a hotel room at Motel 6. The suspect, Joseph Rowan, refused to leave the room.

When officers entered the room, Rowan jumped behind the bed. There was a handgun on the bed.

A robot was sent into the room as officers continued to try and get him out. Then, several rounds from a pepper-ball gun were shot into the room, but he still would not come out.

The K-9 was sent into the room, biting Rowan and getting him away from the gun. Police were then able to take him into custody.

Officers found meth paraphernalia in the room.

Rowan was arrested for trespassing, failing to comply with officers, possessing meth, possessing THC, resisting, possessing drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, possession of OC by a felon and a probation hold.
