Car wash helps Eau Claire homeless shelter

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Winter is approaching, and you can help Sojourner House get ready for the colder temperatures by getting a car wash.

It’s National Co-Op month, and Mega! Holiday is donating $1 from every car wash sold September 30 – October 6 to Sojourner House, a homeless shelter that’s open nightly.

Director of Sojourner House, Katie Richel, said all the money will help them as they gear up for winter, especially since they rely heavily on the community.

“We’re always taking donations. Socks are huge, we always need socks year-round, but especially in the winter because of the cold and the wet,” Richel said. “We just do the best we can and get the word out in the community that we’ll take winter clothing.”

Richel said they’ve been full almost every night and have even had to turn people away, so they’re hoping to find an overflow space this winter.
