New J.C. Penney CEO is UW-Stout graduate

Menomonie (WQOW) – The new leader of J.C. Penney got her education right here in western Wisconsin.

Jill Solteau has been announced as the company’s new chief executive officer, causing its stock to rise about 8 percent Wednesday alone.

She is a Viroqua native and a graduate of UW-Stout’s class of 1989.

Solteau is currently the CEO of JOANN Stores. She has also worked in top positions at Shopko, Sears, Carson Pirie Scott, Kohl’s and Macy’s.

Her first day on the job is Monday, October 15.
