UPDATE: Man found dead Thursday was missing Eau Claire veteran

Eau Claire (WQOW) – According to Steve Wagener, his son Nicholas, a missing Eau Claire veteran, is who was found dead on Thursday.

Steve told News 18 the medical examiner is listing September 5 as the date of death. That was the last day Nicholas was seen.

Wagener was an Army veteran, having served in Iraq from 2001-2005.

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Eau Claire police are trying to identify a body after it was found Thursday afternoon.

According to police, they received a report of a dead male by Dells Pond along the embankment, on the Churchill Street dead end.

Police do not know who the person is, but they are working to identify the male and notify his family.

No foul play is expected.
