Dunn County man killed by exploding tire identified

UPDATE SUNDAY 9/23: The Dunn County Sheriff’s office has identified the victim in Friday’s accident as Seth Splitter, age 20, from rural Elk Mound.

Dunn County (WQOW) – A Dunn County man is dead after being hit in the head by an exploding tire.

It happened Friday morning in the 9600 block of County Road E in the township of Spring Brook.

According to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, a man was working on changing a wagon wheel. As the tire was being inflated, it depressurized, and the tire and rim flew into the man, killing him.

Nobody else was injured.

The man’s name is not being released by the sheriff’s office until family is notified.
