Chippewa Falls (WQOW)- Two four legged friends are now making their way around the Chippewa Falls Middle School to help comfort students throughout the school day.
Paris and Charlie are both are certified therapy dogs and come to school with their owners, almost every day.
Charlie has been a therapy dog at the school for two years, Paris joined the team in April.
Carly Rubenzer, Paris’ owner and Social Emotional Interventionist at the middle school said because the school is so big they felt having two dogs would be beneficial.
Their purpose is to support, provide friendship and to be there for students when they’re having a rough day.
“I think our school feels almost a sense of pride having them here and that it’s special, it’s a special thing to have dogs in your school, and I think the kids can feel that and it brings everyone together because everyone knows Paris and Charlie. Typically they say hi to Paris more than me and they’re happy to see them,” Rubenzer said.
Rubenzer said they haven’t had any issues with students having allergies with the dogs present because the students with allergies just stay clear of the dogs.
