Eau Claire economic development administrator retiring

Eau Claire (WQOW) – One of the men who helped lay the brickwork for downtown Eau Claire’s revitalization is calling it a career.

After more than 33 years of leading Eau Claire’s economic team, Mike Schatz is retiring.

The 63-year-old said the time is right and he is proud of where he is leaving the city – one that’s nationally recognized.

He said turning around downtown and helping the city come back from Uniroyal’s departure are his greatest accomplishments.

Now, Schatz is looking forward to time with his family, traveling and spending a little more time in the tree stand.

His last day is September 28.
