Eau Claire woman charged with 20 felonies for stealing pills, credit cards & checks

Eau Claire (WQOW) – An Eau Claire woman faces 20 felony charges for allegedly stealing pills and credit cards from cars, and checks from mailboxes across the Chippewa Valley.

Kristy White was charged in Eau Claire County on Wednesday, according to the criminal complaint.

Police said surveillance video shows White stealing prescription pills and credit cards from an unlocked car in the Walmart parking lot in July.

In August, police said she stole more credit cards from a woman in the process of moving, and is seen on video using the cards at convenience stores across the area.

Later that month, she’s accused of soliciting a friend to cash a stolen check, then stealing his banking information, draining his funds and causing him to overdraft.

When White was arrested, police found 20 check from the owners of Monk’s Bar and Grill totaling nearly $8,000.

Another four checks were stolen from an Eau Claire couple. Police believe the checks were taken from their mailboxes

White is currently in the Eau Claire County Jail and faces a slew of charges from other cases.

Her next court appearance is Tuesday.
