Boyd Park to potentially see improvements

Eau Claire (WQOW) — The Eastside Hill Neighborhood wants to show the city why Boyd Park deserves some improvements.

The neighborhood association wants Boyd Park to be used to its potential, and to do that, they told News 18 the City of Eau Claire needs to allow the association to present ideas and ways to fund them.

Some ideas floating around are better access to the river, more nature trails, a skate park area, possible new playground equipment, and more free outdoor activities for neighbors.

Eastside Hill Neighborhood Association President, Mark Ruddy, told News 18 they want to enhance Boyd Park to help enhance the community.

“We’re going to have a good time as a neighborhood here,” Ruddy said. “Really focusing on interactions, the more people can have those kinds of things, like in a kickball game, if that’s the way you start an interaction, then when you see that kid in the park the next weekend say ‘oh, hey, hi, how you doing?’ It creates a whole different thing for the neighborhood.”

Ruddy also said before any official action is taken, they’ll ask for input during upcoming neighborhood meetings.

The Eau Claire City Council will take up the agreement during its Tuesday night meeting, and Ruddy hopes this means everything can move forward.
