HSHS Sacred Heart nurses get free meal on Labor Day

Eau Claire (WQOW) — Some nurses working at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital got a free meal Monday, a day many had off.

In observance of Labor Day, Olive Garden restaurants across the country donated lunch to first responders, something they’ve done since 2002. They change recipients of the free meal each year, and this year, the Eau Claire Olive Garden chose the nurses in Sacred Heart’s Women and Infants Center.

Olive Garden employee, Morgan Blair, told News 18 this is a way the company can say ‘thank you’ to those in the community who are working on a day, when many others are not.

“It feels good to kind of give back to them when they do so much for our community,” Blair said. “They bring little babies into this world, so it’s really nice.”

Blair also said this is an easy way to recognize those who may feel a little forgotten on the holiday.

Travel before Thanksgiving looks decent, but afterwards things could get messy.
