Trempealeau Co DA voted out of office

Trempealeau County (WXOW) – Voters in Trempealeau County have decided to make a change in the District Attorney’s Office.

They have supported a recall of D.A. Taavi McMahon by a five-to-one margin.

McMahon’s former assistant in the D.A’s office, John Sacia, won 2244-450 in the vote against his former boss.

Recall supporters began their effort in May accusing McMahon of inability to effectively prosecute cases and failing to comply with the rules of the court.

Sacia and McMahon both ran as Democrats.  Sacia now faces the Republican candidate Rick Niemeyer in the November general election.

Voters elected McMahon to a four year term in 2016.
