LOS ANGELES (AP) — California Republicans have suffered twin defeats in U.S. House races and two other GOP reps are locked in races too close to call.
On Tuesday, Democrat Mike Levin took the San Diego-area seat held by retiring Rep. Darrell Issa.
Issa spent nearly two decades on Capitol Hill. He was President Obama’s chief antagonist while heading the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Meanwhile, the last Republican House member in Los Angeles County, Steve Knight, conceded to Democrat Katie Hill for the 25th District even though thousands of ballots still have to be counted.
The Associated Press has not called that race.
Elsewhere, undecided races include re-election bids by Republican Reps. Mimi Walters and Dana Rohrabacher. Both are fighting for survival in Orange County districts they easily won two years ago.
