The Latest: Ronald Reagan returns as hologram at library

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — The Latest on a new hologram of Ronald Reagan (all times local):

10:30 a.m.

A smiling Ronald Reagan waves to a crowd from aboard a rail car during a campaign stop in a new hologram revealed at the late president’s namesake library in Southern California.

John Heubusch, head of the Reagan Foundation, says Wednesday that the goal of the high-tech digital resurrection is to show the 40th president as lifelike as possible.

Reagan speaks to supporters from the train while campaigning for re-election in 1984. He says: “We think we made a good beginning, but you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”

The audio is edited from remarks made by Reagan during his lifetime.

Other holograms show Reagan in the Oval Office and at his beloved ranch.

The Reagan Library worked with the same special effects technicians who helped bring singers Billie Holiday, Jackie Wilson and Jenny Rivera back to life on stage.

Ronald Reagan is returning, in hologram form.

A hologram of the nation’s 40th president is set to be revealed Wednesday at his namesake library in Southern California.

The Reagan Library says it worked with the same Hollywood special effects wizards who helped bring singers Michael Jackson, Maria Callas and Roy Orbison back to life on stage.

Officials say the goal is to allow visitors to see Reagan back in the Oval Office, campaigning or at his beloved ranch.
