STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Trace McSorley accounted for five touchdowns and broke Penn State’s record for most rushing scores by a quarterback as the No. 11 Nittany Lions routed Kent State 63-10. The Heisman Trophy hopeful completed 11 of 22 passes for 229 yards with an interception and ran for three touchdowns for the Nittany Lions. He also became the second Penn State quarterback to rush for 1,000 career yards.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Shea Patterson threw three touchdown passes to Donovan Peoples-Jones, helping No. 19 Michigan pull away to beat SMU 45-20. The Wolverines didn’t score until Ben Mason converted a fourth down with a 1-yard TD run midway through the second quarter. Michigan took control over the last 2:34 of the first half. Patterson threw a tiebreaking, 35-yard TD pass to Peoples-Jones and Josh Metellus returned an interception 73 yards for a score as time expired in the second quarter.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) — Tucker McCann kicked the game-winning field goal as time expired to lift Missouri to a 40-37 victory over Purdue. Missouri (3-0) is off to its best start since 2015 while Purdue (0-3) faces its worst beginning of the season since 1996 when they last opened with three losses.
EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) — Kato Nelson tossed two touchdown passes, Alvin Davis returned two interceptions for touchdowns, and Akron rallied from an 18-point deficit for a 39-34 victory over Northwestern. Nelson was 17 for 28 for 277 yards and added 37 yards rushing.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Noah Fant caught five passes for 99 yards and one touchdown, moving him atop the all-time list for tight end touchdowns at Iowa to help power the Hawkeyes to a dominant 38-14 victory over Northern Iowa. Nathan Stanley had a mostly-flawless game, throwing for 309 yards, two touchdown passes and an interception on 23-of-28 passing for Iowa (3-0), which matched its 3-0 start from a year ago headed into Big Ten Conference play.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ohio State standout defensive end Nick Bosa left the No. 4 Buckeyes’ game against No. 15 TCU with an apparent left groin injury. Bosa was sitting on the turf with his helmet off at the end of a play after rushing after TCU quarterback Shawn Robinson early in the third quarter. He could be seen pointing to his left groin area. He went to the locker room and was in street clothes when he returned to the Ohio State bench before the end of the third quarter.
