The Cubs trailed 2-0 until Ian Happ belted a three-run homer in the seventh. Christian Yelich (YEH’-lihch), Travis Shaw and Mike Moustakas (moos-TAH’-kahs) homered for the Brewers in a 7-4 victory over Pittsburgh.

UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers have moved into a tie with St. Louis for the second NL wild-card while pulling within a half-game of the NL West-leading Colorado Rockies. Yasiel Puig (pweeg) belted a pair of solo homers and rookie Walker Buehler struck out nine while limiting St. Louis to a pair of hits over eight innings of the Dodgers’ 3-0 shutout of the Cardinals. Chris Stratton tossed a two-hitter and Austin Slater poked a two-run single as San Francisco shut out the Rockies, 2-0.

ATLANTA (AP) — Ronald Acuna (ah-KOON’-yuh) Jr. was 4-for-5 with two RBIs as the Braves doubled up the Nationals, 10-5. Nick Markakis (mahr-KAY’-kihs) drove in three runs with a pair of singles to support Kevin Gausman, who gave up three earned runs over 5 2/3s. Atlanta reduced its magic number to nine for winning its first NL East title in five years.

UNDATED (AP) — The Arizona Diamondbacks have trimmed Houston’s lead in the AL West to 2 ½ games over Oakland by downing the Astros, 4-2. It was a 2-2 tie in the seventh until Jay lined an RBI triple and scored on A.J. Pollock’s single. Khris Davis smashed his major league-leading 42nd home run to break a tie in the 10th inning of the Athletics’ 2-1 win at Tampa Bay.

UNDATED (AP) — Boston’s magic number to clinch the AL East remains six following the Red Sox’s 8-0 shutout loss to the New York Mets. Jay Bruce, Amed Rosario, Jeff McNeil and Austin Jackson homered to back Noah Syndergaard (SIHN’-dur-gahrd), who held the Bosox to three hits over seven innings. The Cleveland Indians were 5-2 losers to Detroit, but they managed to clinch a tie for the AL Central title while the Minnesota Twins suffered an 8-4 loss on a grand slam by Salvador Perez in the bottom of the ninth.
