The Nation’s Weather for Thursday, September 13, 2018

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

Rain, coastal flooding and winds will ramp up along the

North Carolina, northern South Carolina and southeastern

Virginia coasts today as Florence approaches from the

Atlantic Ocean. Depending on Florence’s track and speed,

heavy rain and high winds will spread inland over the same

states. Spotty showers are forecast to occur farther to the

west and north over the Appalachians, mid-Atlantic and Gulf

coast. However, this rain will not be directly associated

with the hurricane. Surf will be rough to dangerous as far

north as southern New England and as far south as eastern

Florida. Downpours from another tropical feature will ramp

up over Texas. Much of the Plains and West can expect dry

weather except for spotty showers over the northern tier.
