BOB WOODWARD BOOK HITS STORES TODAY

WASHINGTON (AP) — As much as you’ve been hearing people talk about it, you might be surprised to know the new tell-all book about President Donald Trump and his administration is just coming out today. Journalist Bob Woodward’s book “Fear” is being released even as fallout from it continues to rock the White House. At a White House briefing yesterday, press secretary Sarah Sanders slammed “Fear” as “careless and reckless.” Trump tweets that the book “is a joke” and that eventually he will “write the real book.” Meanwhile, “Fear” is the top-selling book on Amazon.

WHAT LES MOONVES' DEPARTURE MEANS FOR CBS

NEW YORK (AP) — It's expected there won't be any immediate major changes now that CBS is under new leadership. But with the ouster of Les Moonves, the company may end up the target of a takeover. Moonves left CBS Sunday — hours after New Yorker magazine released accounts of more women who say he is guilty of sexual misconduct. Moonves denies any wrongdoing; he says he had consensual relationships with some of the women accusing him.

JULIE CHEN MISSING FROM "THE TALK" AS HUSBAND LEAVES CBS

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Julie Chen wasn't on "The Talk" yesterday. But she was a main topic of discussion on the show she usually co-hosts. Chen is married to Les Moonves, the CBS chief executive who left the network after being accused of sexual misconduct. Co-host Sharon Osbourne choked back tears as she told viewers Chen is "taking off time to be with her family." Chen married Moonves in 2004 — and they have an 8-year-old son. In a statement, Chen says she will be away from "The Talk" for a few days, but will be on Thursday's edition of her other CBS show, "Big Brother."

BILL COSBY – SENTENCING

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Bill Cosby will be sentenced this month on his conviction on felony sex assault charges. And his lawyers are fighting an effort by prosecutors to have some of his accusers speak at his sentencing hearing. It's unclear how many accusers prosecutors want to put before the court; five testified at his trial this spring. Cosby's legal team says because Cosby is 81 and has poor vision, he no longer poses a public threat — meaning prosecutors don't need to call other accusers to speak at his sentencing hearing.

STUDY: MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA UNDER-REPRESENTED ON TV

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new study says the TV industry needs to do better by those of Middle Eastern and North African descent. The study says actors and characters from those regions are either ignored — or stereotyped. The study by Biola University says one percent of regularly seen TV series actors have roots in countries like Egypt, Turkey and Israel. But estimates show about 3 percent of the U.S. population hails from the region. The study says of those who make it to TV screens, 78 percent are portrayed as tyrants, trained terrorists, agents or soldiers.

"PRETTY LITTLE LIARS" STAR MARRIES

WAIKANE, Hawaii (AP) — One of the stars of "Pretty Little Liars" has gotten hitched. Janel Parrish has tied the knot with longtime boyfriend Chris Long. The wedding took place in Hawaii, where Parrish was born. The actress posted a photo on Instagram showing the couple kissing at their rehearsal dinner. Wedding guests included members of the "Pretty Little Liars" cast and crew.

CIRQUE DU SOLEIL – OIL

REDMOND, Wash. (AP) — Cirque du Soleil says it will reimburse all those who attended a show in Washington state Friday. Some of the refunded money might have to go for dry cleaning. A mechanical problem during the show caused some in the audience to be sprayed with vegetable oil. The problem caused the show to be canceled before it was halfway through. Cirque du Soleil apologizes for the incident and says no one was injured. And it says the oil posed no health risk for audience members or employees.

MISS AMERICA FALLOUT

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — The Miss America pageant may be over — but the controversy over those running the organization continues. Yesterday, hours after the new titleholder was crowned, the Miss America Organization issued a report denying that the outgoing beauty queen was bullied by pageant leaders. Former Miss America Cara Mund's attorney calls the report "dishonest" and "a complete whitewash." Mund wasn't interviewed for the report.

NEW JETS QUARTERBACK RISES AFTER EARLY FALL

DETROIT (AP) — What began as a potential disaster turned into a triumphant debut for New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold. His first pass ever in the NFL was picked off and returned for a touchdown. But the former USC star rebounded nicely, throwing two touchdowns as the Jets routed the Detroit Lions 48-17 last night. Darnold is 21 and is the youngest QB to start a season opener since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger.

RAIDERS PLAYER SITS OUT NATIONAL ANTHEM

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — Add one to the list of NFL players who demonstrated during the national anthem the first week of the new season. Oakland Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch sat during the anthem at his team's season opener in Alameda, California. Lynch sat for the anthem all of last season but never said why. During the opening weekend of the NFL season, a handful of players took action to protest police brutality and social injustice.
