The Nation’s Weather for Saturday, September 8, 2018

_____

NATIONAL SUMMARY

Cool and dry air is forecast to hold from the Upper Midwest

to New England and the upper part of the mid-Atlantic region

today. Meanwhile, a soaking rainstorm, of which Gordon is a

part, will raise the risk of flooding in portions of the

Ohio and middle Mississippi valleys. Rain and drizzle will

spill eastward to the Chesapeake and Delaware bay areas as

cooler air slices in from the northeast. As steamy air holds

in the Southeast, spotty but heavy storms are forecast to

erupt. A general swath of heavy showers and thunderstorms is

likely to extend from the middle part of the Mississippi

Valley to Texas. The vast majority of the northern Plains

and West can expect dry weather. A few storms will dot North

Dakota as clouds and showers dampen western Washington and

northwestern Oregon.
