NEW YORK (AP) — Designer Ralph Lauren feted 50 years in business with a luxurious and joyous bash in Manhattan’s Central Park, around a famous 19th-century fountain.
Guests were treated to a runway show celebrating Lauren’s styles both past and present. Then they sat down to a formal dinner around the Bethesda Fountain to hear Oprah Winfrey toast the 78-year-old designer, for “50 years of your designing our dreams.”
Along with Winfrey, the star-studded affair drew names like Steven Spielberg, Kanye West, Chance the Rapper, Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively and Jessica Chastain. Not to mention Hillary Clinton, who wore Lauren’s designs at numerous key moments of her presidential campaign — including the white “suffragette” pantsuit she wore to accept the Democratic nomination.
