Menomonie (WQOW) — Dozens of dogs and a few cats got their paws ready for the 27th annual Mutt Strut N’ Tabby Trot 5K on Saturday morning. The run was held at the Dunn County Ice Arena.

Not only could you enjoy the run/walk, there was also a raffle, a bouncy house for kids and even a dog kissing contest.

The run doesn’t just help owners connect with their four-legged friends, the Dunn County Humane Society puts on the annual fundraiser to help homeless pets in the area as well.

“We have probably about 800 different animals come in every year and what we want to do is have the adequate funds to care for them,” said Josh Dalton, executive director of the Dunn County Humane Society. “So that means we needs funds to spay and neuter them, to give them vaccinations, to keep them healthy, and events like this really help do that.”

Dalton said the event grows every year with the support from local businesses and community members. Organizers hope to beat last year’s funds raised, which was just shy of $15,000.

WQOW was a proud sponsor of the event.
