Eau Claire (EMPTY BOWLS)- Many people in our area struggle with food insecurity and there is a event happening this week to help support them called “Empty Bowls”.
Empty Bowls is a community meal of soup donated by local restaurants along with bread and desserts. Attendees can chooses a handcrafted bowl to take home made by area schools, UWEC and professional potters. We have more bowls than ever this year!
Last year nearly 3,000 people attended the event. The event is Thursday, March 7, at the Florian Gardens here in Eau Claire with continuous serving from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Dine in or carry out is available.
Tickets are $20 for the meal with bowl, $8 for just the meal and free to children 10 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at www.fmpfoodbank.org or at the door the day of the event.
All proceeds benefit Feed My People programming supporting children, seniors and families who struggle with food insecurity.
Great Harvest has donated 100’s of loaves of bread over the years to Empty Bowls. It is a favorite of everyone who attends. To hear from Emily Moore from Feed My People and Lee Fletcher, the co-owner of Great Harvest Bread on why this event is so important for them to be involved in this.
