Eau Claire (NANCY SKELLEY)- If you’re already in the holiday decorating spirit, gardening expert, Nancy Skelley shares with us a few tips to keep your creativity flowing.

Outdoor holiday decorations with fresh greenery are simple and fun to make. Materials are found in nature, but can be purchased fairly inexpensively at many local stores.

Begin with a weather resistant container. Glass or ceramic containers can crack or break, plastic or metal work best. Assemble your greens, pine cones, berries, and decorative accents
Fill your container with a base material. For spruce pots I use soil, for small containers you can use wet floral foam. Cut and arrange greenery in container, add pine cones and other accents as desired. Let your container freeze to hold everything in place. Outdoor arrangements like these will look fresh and beautiful for several months!

Nancy Skelley is offering Make it/Take it seminars at the Lake Wissota Jacobson’s Ace Hardware. Classes are Saturday November 17th and 24th at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m.. Information can be found on Jacobsons Hardware and Greenhouse FB page, or call 715-861-2055 to register. The door hanging class is 11/24 at 10 a.m. and the cost is $25 for all materials. The spruce pot classes are all of the other times, the cost for them is $35 and includes all materials as well.
