Independence man sentenced after being caught in sex sting

Independence (WQOW) – An area man caught in a police sex sting was placed on probation for three years this week.

Iqbal Tafader from Independence was arrested in February. Police said he posted an ad on Craigslist seeking a male companion and set up a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old boy who was actually an undercover officer.

St. Croix County Judge Edward Vlack also ordered Tafader to register as a sex offender, surrender his passport and not use the internet or have any contact with children without probation agent approval.
