Eau Claire man reaches plea deal after beating and choking woman unconscious

Eau Claire County (WQOW) – An Eau Claire man accused of beating and choking a woman unconscious reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

According to the complaint, Andrew Clark and the victim were fighting. Clark told police she threw something at him so he punched and choked her. He said she passed out and started to convulse.

When police got there, the victim did not have a pulse and was not breathing. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Last week, Clark pleaded no contest to strangulation in exchange for other charges being dropped. Judge Michael Schumacher sentenced Clark to at least six months in jail with work release and 2 1/2 of probation.
