Eau Claire (WQOW)– After years of planning, the Local Store in downtown Eau Claire launched it’s expansion over the first weekend of June.

The store, which is now doubled in size, shared samples and offered discounts for their new, local products that ranged anywhere from beer and cheese to plants and pottery. Items like these can be found in some of the new spaces within the store, like a new outdoor courtyard.

Employees emphasized the importance of a community shopping local and helping businesses in the area continue to grow.

“A lot of the makers that come in here or a lot of the vendors that we have are local, when you actually purchase a product from us, you’re actually helping to support more than one business, you’re actually helping to support the maker who made it and the store that sells it, so it’s just great to keep the money local, keep the positivity local and keep the hometown pride as local as can be,” said Matthew Novacek, an employee at Local Store.

Novacek said the store now has over 200 contributing Chippewa Valley vendors and artists, with plans to continue adding more

Novacek said that the constant positive feedback from customers and other stores within the community have made the expansion’s hard work worth it.
