Funeral services announced for Eau Claire TV pioneer Howard Trickey

A memorial service will be held November 9th in Florida for former Eau Claire television personality Howard Trickey.  He died October 22 in Florida at the age of 93, according to an online obituary.

Trickey was well-known as a weatherman on WEAU-TV in the 1960s.  He later served in television management in Eau Claire, Green Bay and Tampa, Florida.

Trickey grew up in Knapp, graduated from Menomonie High School and then served in World War II.  After the war, he graduated from Stout State University (now UW-Stout) in Menomonie.  After Stout, Trickey enrolled at Brown Institute in Minneapolis, where he learned radio broadcasting, the career that defined him for many in western Wisconsin.

Trickey is survived by his wife of 72 years, Valerie, two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Garden Sanctuary Funeral Home in Seminole, Florida November 9th at 2:00 PM.
