Weather service confirms at least 8 tornadoes in Wisconsin on Tuesday

(WBAY) – National Weather Service crews have confirmed eight tornadoes hit eastern Wisconsin Tuesday, and that number could grow with additional surveys Thursday.

NWS Milwaukee says it confirmed seven tornadoes in Fond du Lac County and Dodge County. NWS Green Bay confirmed a tornado near Kiel.

Gov. Scott Walker is touring damage Thursday. He received a briefing on the current state of damage and discussed the possibility of federal assistance for damage victims.

“We’re a ways off from being able to fully seek a federal declaration, but obviously as the damage levels increase–it’s a high bar–but that’s something certainly we’re going to be looking at and working with our partners in municipal and county government–particularly with the county emergency management teams in the state,” Walker said.

He’s urging farmers to document as much damage as possible. That will help with a request for federal help.

“Right now get safe, work on recovery and document. Let us know through local government as much as that damage as possible,” Walker said.

Weather Outlook: Active weather pattern returns, bringing multiple rounds of snow

We’ve had a couple of dustings of snow over the past week, including yesterday, but it’s been a full week now since our last big system. Thankfully, we’ve been able to catch up on clearing the snow, and are close to getting back in the swing of things. Just as we settle down, however, we return back to an active weather pattern that will bring several chances for more accumulating snow over the next couple of weeks.
