Former EC Regional Arts Center director accuses prosecutors of misconduct in sexual assault case

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The former Eau Claire Regional Arts Center executive director, charged with sexual assault, is now accusing prosecutors of misconduct.

Ben Richgruber pleaded not guilty to 3rd degree sexual assault earlier this month, according to a motion filed last week.

Richgruber’s attorney claims they filed a discovery demand in February. They then filed five more requests between March and June.

The motion states they were given a report in July, but much of it was redacted – including information about the alleged victim’s exam at Planned Parenthood.

Richgruber’s attorney is asking a judge to force the DA’s office to immediately turn over all documents, plus pay for some legal fees.

A motion hearing has been scheduled for October.
