The 36th Annual Buckshot Run kicks off at Carson Park

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Rain wasn’t the only thins hitting the pavement Tuesday. The 36th Annual Buckshot Run kicked off at Carson Park.

All money raised will be donated to Special Olympics of Wisconsin. Between Tuesday and Saturday, more than 1,000 people from across the country are expected to participate. Organizers said there are many reasons people lace up their shoes for the event.

"I think it’s the fact that you are combining, athletics, the sporting aspect to the community aspect by giving back to the community, bringing the community together for a good cause," Karina Tomei, Director of Development for Special Olympics of Wisconsin told News 18.

Organizers hope the event raises $20,000 for Special Olympics. Registration for Saturday’s race is open through Friday night. If you want to join in, click here
