Eau Claire County Meals on Wheels program is running out of room

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The Aging and Disability Resource Center serves meals to homebound senior citizens in Eau Claire County. Recently, the group has extended its reach to parts of Chippewa County as well, but the Meals on Wheels program is running out of seats.

"We’ve been needing to do fundraising, because on January 1, we started leasing a kitchen out of a the Fall Creek nursing home," said Becky Hinzmann, representing the Meals on Wheels program. "So, we are making our own food from scratch now. We’re quickly outgrowing our refrigerator, freezers and delivery van space. So, we need to raise some money so we can expand."

Before the move to Fall Creek, the organization used to gather meals from HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital, but they wanted more control over the quality of food served, and now, they are making up to 400 meals per day.
