Eau Claire (WQOW) – U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir responded to a rally held just last week against her.

As News 18 reported then, healthcare professionals met in Eau Claire to express their concerns on Vukmir’s views on healthcare. She is being targeted for taking away protections for pre-existing conditions and cutting Medicare and Medicaid.

"These are just folks that are trying to buy into a doom-and-gloom scenario," Vukmir said. "Nothing could be further from the truth. Anyone who knows me, I am a nurse, I am a practicing nurse, and I care very deeply about what happens in healthcare."

Vukmir said the Affordable Care Act is not affordable, and the current plan should not continue. She also said if a complete government-run component is added to healthcare, it’s going to decrease the quality of health care, providers and options.
