Morrie’s Chippewa Valley Mazda donates backpacks to kids in need

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Morrie’s Chippewa Valley Mazda is donating backpacks to the Eau Claire School District along with Parkview Elementary in Chippewa Falls to help kids in need. 

Morrie’s GM Bill Bertrand said each school will get 245 backpacks (for a total of 491 backpacks) along with a check for $1,270 for school supplies.

He said along with bookbags and money for supplies, they also got some different types of donations sent for students. 

"We had one individual that came in and hand-knitted 300 stocking caps for students and brought them in. We had another company that just came in and said here’s water bottles for all of the kids so we’ll donate those along with them so it’s kind of neat to see," Bertrand said. "That’s the cool part of being in Eau Claire is you see the community start to think of different things they can do, different ways to help and it was really neat to have that on board and the person who spent that much time knitting 300 hats I though that was pretty special."

Bertrand said next year they’re going to start earlier and shoot for 800 bookbags.
