Cumberland man faces child sexual assault charges for 2nd time

Barron County (WQOW) – A Cumberland man faces 40 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.

Kurtes Dawson, 23, is charged in Barron County with the crime.

According to the criminal complaint, the girl told police she met Dawson by playing video games and they dated for about a month. In that time, she said they had sex a couple of times in his car.

While talking with police, the victim teared up, saying she knew Dawson had been in trouble for having sex with a minor before. According to court records, Dawson pleaded no contest to 2015 charges in Polk County of 2nd degree sexual assault of a minor. He also pleaded guilty to three counts of 4th degree sexual assault in Barron County in 2015.

Dawson is due back in court on the newest charges August 29.
