Eau Claire looking to add ‘Active Aging’ amenities to McDonough Park

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The city council will hear about plans for McDonough Park Tuesday that are meant to attract a different demographic

Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry Todd Chwala told News 18 the plans for the park are still in the conceptual phase but thanks to a $20,000 grant from Mayo Clinic Health System, they hope to put in some equipment to get the older generation interested in the park.

Some ideas include adding walking trails, possibly games like shuffleboard, Kubb or cornhole. It could also include a Pickleball court or a disc golf area.

Chwala said, so far, it’s just a lot of napkin sketch ideas, but they have hired an architecture firm to help design it.
