UWEC Karlgaard Towers North gets $3 million in extra funding

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The State Building Commission has approved an extra three million dollars to upgrade UW-Eau Claire’s Karlgaard Towers North.

The commission unanimously approved the additional funding for the nearly $39 million renovation project which also includes upgrades at Karlgaard Towers South.

The new money will not increase the student fees, and no tax dollars are being used for the project. 

Towers South is expected to be done by the end of the month, while the north tower will open in the fall of 2019.

Drizzle picked back up this afternoon, and much like yesterday froze to untreated surfaces. The good news is the salt and sand put down yesterday is still working, and many municipalities were out again putting down more today.
