Osseo (WQOW) – The Osseo Rural Fire Department will be auctioning off its old fire gear, putting the proceeds toward the department.
Everything from oxygen tanks and sirens to a 1967 Chevrolet C-60 750-gallon single-axle pumper fire truck will be up for grabs to the highest bidder.
There are 46 lots consisting of 80 to 90 items of vintage fire gear for people to bid on. The open house for the miscellaneous 46 lots and the ’67 pumper fire truck will be August 20, and the final bid day will be August 22.
The old Osseo Rural Fire Department building itself is up for auction in a separate listing. The open house for the old building will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. August 30. The bidding ends September 4.
News 18 asked Assistant Chief Terry Rue if he had any memories at the old fire station. Rue said when he joined the department 28 years ago, he remembers the pumper being one of the main fire trucks, which he said he went out to tackle many fires on. "And just a lot of good memories… one of our past Assistant Chief Jack Olson, a lot of good memories of him running that truck," said Rue.
The items are listed online at the Wisconsin Surplus Online Auction.
