Menomonie mom receives life-saving award

Menomonie (WQOW) – A Menomonie mom is being hailed a hero after saving her son’s life when he got a zip tie stuck around his neck.

Jodi Martin told News 18 her grandson, Lynkahn, 12, got a zip tie stuck around his neck while sitting in the backseat of a car his mom was driving.

Lynkahn’s sibling noticed what was going on and yelled for his mom to pull over.

The mom, Savannah Scherber, quickly pulled into the Uptown Laundry Mat, ran inside and found someone with a pair of scissors – and cut the zip tie off.

Lynkahn was taken to the hospital, but is OK.

On Wednesday, Scherber was presented a Life Saving Award from the City of Menomonie and the Menomonie Police Department.
