(WISN) – A voluntary recall of over 145,000 cartons of Blue Diamond’s Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk has been issued because it may contain an allergen: milk.
HP Hood LLC announced the recall Thursday. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the affected products.
The company says the affected almond milk is safe to drink only for people who do not have a milk allergy or sensitivity. There were no details as to how the milk got into the recalled cartons.
Approximately 145,254 half-gallon cartons of the affected product were shipped to retailers and wholesalers in 28 states, including Wisconsin.
The recall only applies to the following product: refrigerated Vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk with a use-by date of Sept. 2, 2018. To identify the affected product, consumers should look for the stamped information printed as:

The carton has a Universal Product Code (UPC barcode) of 41570 05621 on its side panel next to the nutrition facts.
Consumers who purchased the product may return it to the retail location where the purchase was made for a full refund or exchange, or visit Blue Diamond’s website to complete a form online.
