Gov. Walker touts child tax rebate in Eau Claire on final day to sign up

Eau Claire (WQOW)- Monday is the last day to apply for the $100 child tax rebate, but even if you’re eligible, you may not get all your money.

Governor Scott Walker was at Shopko in Eau Claire Monday announcing more than 500,000 families already claimed their tax rebate.

Walker said anyone who is a Wisconsin resident is eligible to receive this rebate for every child living at home under the age of 18. However, News 18 received messages about some people not getting their tax rebate, due to money they owe the state.

"Well that’s part of the process," Walker said. "If they owe, then this would be a deduction in terms of the amount that they already owe."

Walker said there will also be a back-to-school tax holiday August 1-5, where you can shop for school supplies tax free.

The deadline to apply is midnight. Click here to apply.
