Deadline is Monday for $100 child tax rebate

Madison (WQOW) – Governor Scott Walker said more than 500,000 families have already claimed their $100 per-child tax rebate as the deadline quickly approaches.

The deadline for families to apply is 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 2.

"It’s great to see more than half a million families have claimed their $100 child tax rebate," said Gov. Walker. "This $100 can make a big difference as kids go back to school next fall."

Anyone who is a Wisconsin resident is eligible to receive $100 for every dependent child living at home under the age of 18 as of December 31, 2017. Those who claim the rebate will receive the money before school starts this fall, and have the option to get it in the mail, or direct deposit.

There will also be a back-to-school sales tax holiday from August 1-5. That means no state sales tax will be charged on school supplies if each item is $75 or less, clothing $75 or less and computers $750 or less.
