Volunteers create new ministry for people with disabilities

Eau Claire (WQOW) – Eau Claire will soon be home to a new ministry, for a select group of people.

Volunteers from local churches are launching IM Church, an ecumenical inclusive ministry created by people of different faiths to spread God’s love to people with disabilities.

Starting July 22, IM Church will meet on the third Sunday of each month at Lake Street United Methodist Church. The monthly service will include a Sunday school lesson to preview the sermon message, a short worship with music, followed by a free fellowship dinner.

Volunteers hope the ministry will be a place where people with disabilities are accepted.

"I guess I just want to make sure that people know that this ministry is for everybody," said Katie Kroll of Lake Street United Methodist Church. "We want to create something where everybody feels comfortable and can be themselves."

Each service will be lead by a different church, and Kroll said other churches that aren’t involved are invited to join the services going forward.
