Everyone OK after plane catches fire in Rice Lake

Rice Lake (WQOW) – Everyone is OK after a plane started on fire Sunday afternoon in Rice Lake.

According to the Rice Lake Fire Department, the fire started inside a twin-engine plane Sunday afternoon at the Rice Lake Air Center – Regional Airport.

The pilot, James Kleven, said he smelled something hot during takeoff, so he landed the plane. As he was getting out he saw flames near his feet. Both Kleven and his passenger were able to get out of the plane.

No damage estimate is available.
