Construction costs for new Chippewa Falls school jump 18%

Chippewa Falls (WQOW) – Rising construction costs may have an impact on construction and remodeling projects in the Chippewa Falls School District.

School board members learned Tuesday night that construction costs are estimated to be 18 percent higher than a year ago.

Board president David Czech told News 18 the district will not ask for more money from voters who approved the $65 million construction referendum.

He said they will have to consult with their engineers on how to trim some corners on the projects, which include a new Stillson Elementary School.

Czech said it will still be a while before the district seeks bids on the projects, and it’s possible some bids will come in lower than expected.
