Minnesota man charged after child sex sting in Eau Claire

Eau Claire (WQOW) – A 33-year-old man faces three felonies in Eau Claire for trying to meet an underage girl for sex. The girl was really an undercover officer. 

If convicted, Garth Calvin, of Minnesota, could spend up to 85 years in prison. His charges include child enticement and using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. 

According to the criminal complaint, the officer posed as a 14-year-old girl and exchanged messages with Calvin for nearly two weeks. Calvin allegedly sent a nude photo before agreeing to meet at Mount Simon Park. When he was arrested, he had condoms and lubricant in his truck. 

Calvin is due back in court the end of July.
